Will we be getting Skyrim Shelter on iOS and Android this year? In a recent interview with Gamespot Todd Howard said that Bethesda is currently working on a new mobile game that will likely include elements similar to the wildly successful Fallout Shelter which released in June 2015 and quickly garnered tens of millions of downloads. Bethesda has provided plenty of regular updates and events too, from patches and content to holiday themed goodies.

Howard believes mobile titles require a high level of commitment from the developers and attributes these regular updates to Fallout Shelter’s “pretty active” player base. It’s a lesson applied across Bethesda’s titles and will likely be part of the next mobile experience, something Howard said had been discussed for some time.

"We do have another mobile project game that we thought about for a while," he said. "Based on the Shelter experience, we're kind of rolling on something new."

Naturally, speculation will turn to Skyrim and The Elder Scrolls franchise. Based on recent titles like The Elder Scrolls: Legends CCG and The Elder Scrolls: Online it’s clear Bethesda has a pretty active fanbase for all things TES related, too. And Skyrim was the best-selling game they’ve ever had, so brand recognition would be quite high especially among the more casual mobile gamer who only follows big AAA console releases. A Skyrim mobile game makes sense.

But there’s no fun in making sense! So let’s toss about some wild speculation, shall we? Personally, I’d love for an open world pirating adventure based off of The Elder Scrolls Adventures: Redguard , a swashbuckling sea tale surrounding Cyrus the redguard pirate. You could run your ship like its own little shelter with a crew and all that stuff, but then go port to port and trade or fight ships. One thing TES franchise is not short on is locations so Bethesda has plenty to work with.

What do you think? Should Bethesda make a Skyrim mobile game? Or do you want something completely different? Let us know in the comments!
