A new experience is coming soon to Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet. Titled "The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero," it's taking fans even deeper into the game world with two different adventures. Part 1: The Teal Mask launches this fall with Part 2: The Indigo Disk coming out at a later date.

For this new DLC, players go on a journey beyond the Paldea region. In Part 1: The Teal Mask, players go on a school trip to the land of Kitakami where they join an outdoors study program being held jointly between their academy and another school. For Part 2: The Indigo Disk, players travel to their sister school Blueberry Academy as exchange students. While the story has indeed been divided into two parts, they are linked together to tell a story.

The School Trip

In Part 1: The Teal Mask, players are chosen to take part in a school trip held each year and done in collaboration with another school. They’ll be headed to the land of Kitakami, a region where a great mountain towers over the land with people living at its base. It's a place known for tranquil natural expanses and features rice paddies and apple orchards.

It turns out the trip coincides with a festival regularly held in the village in Kitakami during this season. As a result, the village is bustling with different street vendors and stalls. As players uncover the mysteries behind the folktales which have been passed down in this land, they get to meet new friends and Pokémon.

A Lot of Pokémon

For both adventures, players can look forward to encountering more than 230 familiar Pokémon found in other regions but have yet to appear in Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet. This includes Pokémon that players can bring to their game through Pokémon HOME or received in trades.

Players can also encounter new Legendary Pokémon like Ogerpon for Part 1: The Teal Mask and Terapagos for Part 2: The Indigo Disk. Part 1: The Teal Mask also sees three Pokémon named Okidogi, Munkidori, and Fezandipiti. These Pokémon are beloved by the people of the village as heroes which protected the land of Kitakami in the past, so stone statues made in their likeness were made as a symbol of gratitude.

In a statement, The Pokémon Company President and CEO Tsunekazu Ishihara shared that they're thankful to the many trainers worldwide who chose to explore the Paldea region. He added that in "The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero," players get to journey to the land of Kitakami where they not only meet interesting characters but also new Pokémon.

Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet was released worldwide on November 18, 2022. The game managed to hit a new milestone with 10 million combined units in the first three days after launch. The games are available on Nintendo Switch.
