"Pokémon Pokopia" fans have been treated to a new trailer that also reveals creative variants, and the showcase surprised fans with a new variant of Pikachu, its first ever.

'Pokémon Pokopia' Unveils First-Ever Pikachu Variant

"Pokémon" has always been synonymous with Pikachu and vice versa, but "Pokémon Pokopia's" latest trailer shared a new look for the popular mouse. The 10-minute trailer of the cozy life simulation game showed off a pale look for Pikachu, with its vibrant yellow color now replaced with an almost-whitish shade.

Apart from this, this Pikachu variant's Electric sacs, the red round dimple-like circles on its face, are no longer bright or normal red. Another significant change to the original Pikachu in this new variant form is how its ears are no longer pointing up.

ComicBook Gaming noted that in the trailer, the usual energetic mouse that accompanied Ash Ketchum in his decades-long adventure across the land, sea, and air is now acting strangely. The variant is dubbed as "Peakychu" because of its gloomier-than-usual behavior, and speculations claim that it could be an Electric-type primarily but may also be a Ghost-type.

That said, it is expected that this Pikachu variant will be exclusive to "Pokémon Pokopia" only and would not be a mainstay variant of the iconic Electric mouse in mainline games.

Pokémon and Game Freak may give it as a gift, part of special-themed events, or Pokémon Center giveaways.

Fans are Going Wild Over the New 'Peakychu' Variant

Fans online who have seen the trailer are already talking about Peakychu and sharing their sentiments on this variant of the iconic franchise mascot.

Most of the reactions were enthusiastic about Peakychu despite the creature significantly changing the identity of the original version, with many already "loving" this version of the Pokémon.

Other fans are also hoping to see an evolved version of Peakychu that takes on the same behavior, qualities, and traits of this variant, with a droopy Raichu being showcased on concept art.

That said, "Pokémon Pokopia" only has Peakychu as the variant for Pikachu, making it the first-ever alternate version of the Electric-type mouse in franchise history.

Other creative variants unveiled during the showcase are Professor Tangrowth, which also has a new look apart from the new accessories, such as the glasses and the teacher's pointer, as well as the Snorlax covered in moss and looks to be a part of Mother Nature.
