Pikachu is getting a new hat to celebrate Pokémon Day in Pokémon Go . From Feb 26. at 4 p.m. EST. to March 6 at 4 p.m. EST. Every Pikachu will spawn with a little party hat on its head and will stay like that forever; Pokémon Day Pikachu always loves to party.

Like Santa Pikachu from the Christmas event, this yellow mouse will only be available during this short window. Event-specific Pikachus are sure to keep coming, and here are just a few costumes I would love to see for Pokémon’s mascot in the coming updates:

  • Surfing Pikachu

  • Leprechaun Pikachu

  • Pikachu in other Pokémon costumes

  • Mimikyu

  • Pikachu with a moustache

  • Mario Pikachu

  • A Pikachu holding a Nintendo Switch

  • Ditto Pikachu

If event Pikachus are a new Pokémon Go staple, then expect Raichu to also have on some festive head gear. If you caught a Santa hat Pikachu and evolved it, Raichu would be sporting the same hat. It hasn’t been announced yet, but I’m already clearing out some box space for these two electric rats.

Being a Pokémon collector isn’t an easy life, but it’s the life I’ve chosen. I’ve been living in Pokémon Go since the release of Generation 2, trying to find every one of the 80 newly released monsters. Gold and Silver are still my favorite Pokémon games and I’ve been loving this nostalgia bubble.

Are you excited for Festive Pikachu? Tell us in the comments.
