Play! Pokémon Regional and International Championships is making a return in North America and Europe with the first events scheduled for March 2022. This signals the start of the Play! Pokémon 2022 Championship Series season, and will ultimately lead to the 2022 Pokémon World Championships at London in August 2022.
The tournament sees four different Pokémon products: Pokémon Trading Card Game, Pokémon video games, Pokkén Tournament DX, and for the first time, Pokémon GO, in partnership with Niantic.

Pokémon GO
Pokémon GO is joining the roster of this tournament. It’s going to be open to players in the Senior and Masters age divisions. Players need to be at least in the age of digital consent in their home market to participate in the Championship Series events. Here are the other details:
- The format for the 2022 Pokémon GO Championship Series is going to be the Great League.
- Trainers can register for the Pokémon GO Championship Series events through a two-phase registration window which are:
- Early Registration
- Players who achieve Legend Rank in a GO Battle League season can register for certain events before anyone else during a short early-registration window.
- Open Registration
- Once the early-registration window closes, all remaining spots are going to be available for players of any rank.
