Publisher THQ Nordic and developer Appeal Studios have officially revealed Outcast 2: A New Beginning with a brand-new trailer, debuted during the THQ Nordic Digital Showcase 2022 livestream. The game is a sequel to the 1999-released Outcast, a progenitor to the non-linear open-world games released on PC and published by Infogrames. After many challenges, including bankruptcy, THQ Nordic revived Appeal, the studio behind the original game, with this sequel officially 20 years in the making. Check out the trailer for Outcast 2: A New Beginning below.
The trailer teases the return of Cutter Slade, the original protagonist, as he is seemingly caught up in new adventures in the parallel alien world of Adelpha. The legend of the Ulukai, or Adelpha’s messiah, is recounted by Maar, who then shows Slade’s exploits in the game as he traverses various landscapes and locations in a brand-new adventure.
Outcast 2: A New Beginning takes place quite sometime after the original Outcast. The game’s hero, Cutter Slade, is resurrected by the almighty Yods. However, he finds that the Talans have been enslaved, and the world of Adelpha is stripped of its natural resources. To make matters worse, an invading robot force seemingly intertwined with his past appears, and he must now embark on a new mission to save the alien planet.
To save Adelpha, Slade will use his experience as an ex-Navy Seal and his various gear and equipment. Slade can use a jetpack to jump, air-dash, glide, and quickly cross the many landscapes of Adelpha. He can also combine different modules to effectively customize and create the perfect weapon across all situations.
Like the original game, Outcast 2: A New Beginning follows a non-linear format across an expansive and highly-detailed open world. The approach of the story and its outcomes are dependent on the player, with many side content to be discovered including hidden temples and various forms of wildlife. Along the way, Slade will also get familiar with Talan culture once more as he helps the alien race survive the onslaught of their enemies.
Outcast 2: A New Beginning is coming to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and PC via Steam at a yet-to-be-announced date.
