Following the Nintendo Switch unveiling last month, many have speculated The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild will be the new game console's launch title come spring 2017. However, Nintendo insider Emily Rogers believes that another game will likely take on that position instead – the next 3D Super Mario title.

“I wouldn’t be surprised if 3D Mario ends up being a day one launch title for Switch instead of Zelda… That’s all I’ll say on that,” Rogers writes. “That’s not to say that Zelda won’t/can’t be a launch window title. But 3D Mario was much further along in development than anyone thinks.

“This isn’t speculation. I’m basing this off things I’ve been hearing for 3-4 months now. 3D Mario sounds like it’s practically finished.”

Last week, iDigitalTime's own Christopher Groux shared his skepticism of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild as well. Groux noted that Nintendo had refused to confirm a release window, limited preview footage and an incomplete demo during E3 2016, to name a few issues.

We'll be sure to share more Nintendo Switch details in the months ahead. Meanwhile, Nintendo president Tatsumi Kimishima also shared a hint regarding the Nintendo Switch price point during a recent earning's call:

"Regarding the price, as we have been saying, we are, in principle, not planning to sell it at a loss. We would like a wide variety of consumers to enjoy Nintendo products, and we would also like to think in terms of consumersʼ expectations for our products."

The statement is a bit vague, but we expect the Nintendo Switch to sell well below Sony's new PS4 Pro and possibly priced competitively at the $299 range.
