I can’t think of a title better-suited to the Nintendo Switch than Overcooked, a BAFTA award-winning, co-op cooking game that was one of my favorites of 2016. But the game arriving on Nintendo Switch on July 27 isn’t just Overcooked -- it’s Overcooked, plus all the fixings. Overcooked: Special Edition includes the Overcooked base game as well as The Lost Morsel and Festive Seasoning additional content.

The Lost Morsel adds the following content to the Overcooked base game:

  • New world map, accessible via the new DLC option

  • New helicopter vehicle to navigate around the world map

  • New visual theme in-game, “Jungle”

  • Six new campaign levels

  • Six new chefs to unlock

Festive Seasoning adds the following content:

  • A brand new Winter-y world map, complete with snow-mobile to drive around

  • New theme: Winter Lodge

  • Serving up eight new co-op levels!

  • Two new chefs - Snowman & Reindeer!

  • Two new recipes - Turkey Dinner and Stew

  • A new way to cook recipes: The flamethrower…

  • Two Onion houses to chat to our liege, the Onion King

That means Overcooked: Special Edition players can enjoy 14 new levels, eight new chefs, new world maps and more while they slice and dice their way to culinary perfection across the Overcooked universe.

HD Rumble elements will also be integrated, and frankly, I can’t imagine a better way to make dull car or airplane rides more enjoyable than playing a little Overcooked: Special Edition on the go.

In our review, we stated, “The entire selling point of Overcooked is that it’s a simple local co-op game where you sit on the couch with your friends in real life, same as in Nintendo’s glory days, to play.” Now that Overcooked: Special Edition is coming to the Switch, the stars are aligned and the prophecy is coming true.

Here’s the deets on exactly what Overcooked: Special Edition for the Switch includes (via press release):

  • 44 campaign levels which can be played solo or couch co-op with up to four players

  • Nine versus levels to play head to head locally with either two or four players

  • 22 different chefs to play as. Choose a human, racoon, dinosaur, French bulldog, robot or even a reindeer in your quest for culinary greatness!

  • A range of crazy kitchens to play across with different recipes to master - cook soup, burritos, burgers, fish and chips and more!

Overcooked: Special Edition will be available to download for Nintendo Switch via the Nintendo eShop on July 27 for $19.99. Will you be picking it up and enjoying some local multiplayer shenanigans? Feel free to let us know in the comments section below.
