This early, Pokémon GO is inviting all Trainers to prepare and join the New Year’s event. There’s going to be a new costumed Pokémon and even some new avatar items. Everyone can expect as well to see the return of some familiar Pokémon but wearing party hats.

The best part? It’s not going to be a one-day event. It starts on December 31 and runs all the way through January 4, 2021.

Trainers who take part in the New Year’s event get 2× Hatch Candy and 2× Hatch Stardust as bonuses. Also, it’s going to be 1/2 Hatch Distance when Eggs are placed in Incubators during the event.

Full details of the event are:

  • Some Pokémon are going to wear festive costumes to celebrate the new year with everyone.
  • Slowpoke wearing 2020 glasses appear in the wild after Trainers complete Field Research tasks.
    • Slowpoke also appears in raids and hatches from 2 km Eggs.
    • Evolve Slowpoke wearing 2020 glasses to get a Slowbro wearing 2021 glasses.
  • Pichu wearing a New Year’s hat hatches from 2 km Eggs.
    • Pikachu wearing a New Year’s hat appear in the wild and after Trainers complete Field Research tasks.
    • Trainers can also get one by evolving a Pichu wearing a New Year’s hat.
    • Evolve Pikachu wearing a New Year’s hat to get a Raichu wearing a New Year’s hat.
  • Wynaut is going to hatch from 2 km Eggs.
    • Those lucky enough may find a Shiny Wynaut.
  • Raticate, Wobbuffet, and Wurmple wearing party hats are going to appear in one-star raids.
    • Klink and Espurr are joining them as well.
  • Eevee wearing a party hat becomes available as a Field Research reward encounter.

Furthermore, the 2021 Glasses and New Year’s Party Hat avatar items will be available in the in-app shop starting December 30. The shop will also offer boxes that contain different items during the event.

December Events

The New Year event is still around a week away. But that doesn’t mean you have to sit around and wait. There’s actually one Pokémon Spotlight Hour left. It is on December 29 and puts the spotlight on Snover. The bonus for this particular event allows Trainers to earn twice the XP when evolving Pokémon.

So, are you ready to celebrate the New Year?
