Despite it's already massive success, Monster Hunter: World is only going to get bigger. Capcom is getting ready to launch Monster Hunter: World's first expansion, Iceborne, which is scheduled to debut in September 2019. The expansion will focus on the polar North, its frigid, icy landscapes, and all of the new creatures that dwell in it.

Released last year in January, Monster Hunter: World was a huge success and quickly dominated the charts back in 2018. Although a celebrated franchise, Monster Hunter had never seen as much success as it did with the launch of Monster Hunter: World.

Monster Hunter: World is publisher Capcom's most successful individual title so far. For Capcom's franchises, Monster Hunter is their second most successful at 54 million units sold franchise-wide. While definitely a huge hit, its still a far cry from Capcom's most successful franchise, Resident Evil, with over 91 million units sold across its several titles.
