Fortnite: What Are Alien Parasites and How Do They Work?

Fortnite Season 7 is in full swing and players have a chance of fighting the alien invaders as Rick Sanchez from the famed Rick and Morty series.

While it is cool to be shooting at aliens and all, you may notice a weird thing attaching to your head. That “thing” is actually known as an Alien Parasite.

What Are They?

Alien Parasites are small creatures that appear in large swarms. They are contained inside green eggs that are scattered throughout the map.

Once you get close enough, the eggs will start to hatch and the parasites will latch on the first person it comes across. If you’ve seen any of the Alien movies in the past, they are like the Facehuggers that would attach themselves onto your face and refuse to let go until you are subdued. There will be some warning messages that pop up so that you can prepare yourself.

Now, what happens when these things latch onto you? Well, it is not as horrific as in the Alien movies. While your health gradually decreases, you will still have full control of your character and you get a minor mobility boost as well.

According to prominent Fortnite leaker, @HYPEX, there’s a 66% chance they can spawn in random places, though they are likely to start spreading in purple mutated zones. They can be picked up and thrown at your enemies, but you have to be quick, otherwise, they will latch onto you first.

What to Do When They Latch On?

Even though they provide a mobility boost, gradually losing HP could potentially lead to your defeat. So, what should you do?

There are three things that you can do. You can either jump in a body of water, walk through fire or enter a prop.

The first one is not that useful, especially if you are in the middle of a map. The other two options are viable, though most players would opt to start a fire and just go through it.

Because these Alien Parasites can be thrown at your enemies, you can use them to your advantage. Keep in mind that these things do provide mobility enhancement, so think hard before you throw them at your foes.

How is your experience with the alien-themed season so far? Have you encountered these Alien Parasites yet?
