Director Tetsuya Nomura has revealed all-new screenshots of the Final Fantasy 7 remake at the Monaco Anime Game International Conferences 2017 event.

The screenshots reveal the current combat UI for the Final Fantasy 7 remake, which is subject to change. One image shows Cloud taking cover behind a box. It displays menu options such as “Attack,” “Magic,” “Materia,” and “Item.”

Take any bet you like on why Magic and Materia are separated or why Cloud appears to have over 1000 HP in the very first part of the game, but we see that his Limit Break bar is glowing. We also see that he is fighting one targetable soldier as another waits their turn in the rafters up back.

The second image has a lot more going on: we can see the Guard Scorpion in all its beaten red glory, the game’s first boss that guards the Sector 1 Mako Reactor from your intrepid team of eco freedom fighters. Individual limbs have their own HP and are targetable, but the Guard Scorpion also has overall HP. The environment is smoldering impressively in the wake of the Guard Scorpion’s attacks. We see Cloud lunging for an attack as Barret trains a gun on the enemy. Check it out below:

Revealing the screenshots, Nomura stated, “Here is a new image of Final Fantasy VII . I’ve put a lot of attention into the combat system, and it’s going to be going on without interruption.” Friendly fire, apparently, will not be a thing, unlike in Final Fantasy 15, where you were just as likely to roast Ignis as he is to roast a delicious meal from a new recipehhhh.

Introducing the second image, Nomura stated, “This is the first boss in the game. It’s [the Guard] Scorpion and the scenery will be partly destructible. Sorry, I asked to show a video, but the company refused. The menus are not yet final, but I will talk more on another occasion.”

Come on, Square-Enix, let Nomura show us the forbidden videos! Rabble rabble rabble. Last we heard about the remake, it was just some new art which was definitely cool-looking and definitely not as much news as we were hoping for.
