When the Epic Games Store Mega Sale was first announced, it seemed like things might finally be turning around for the controversial gaming platform. After all, the store was providing users with significant discounts on several popular and highly-anticipated titles. Even games that are yet-to-be-released are going on sale on the Epic Store, which honestly is something unheard of. With massive discounts and relentless advertising, it was obvious that the Epic Games Store's Mega Sale was gonna be big - but a week into the month-long event, it's already turning into a fiasco.

The most recent news regarding the Mega Sale has to do with the fact that several accounts have been blocked for purchasing multiple games while the sale is on-going. Users are getting locked out of making purchases on their accounts, and are often met with prompts that read "Sorry, but your account is blocked from making purchases. Please contact customer service."

For the Epic Games Store, this doesn't look good. On one hand, many fans are assuming that this is devious and purposeful - advertise the heck out of the Mega Sale, but put an invisible limit on how much users can take advantage of these discounts. On the other hand, giving Epic Games the benefit of the doubt and not believing them to be conniving and devious, we then have to bring up the fact that the Epic Games Store is shoddy product that can't even properly manage purchases without accusing users of violating anti-fraud measures.

While "innocent until proven guilty" does ring true, it's hard to ignore the fact that Epic Games has been under a lot of fire and a lot of controversy lately. In this Mega Sale alone, Epic Games has managed to stir up trouble not just with its fans, but with its publishers as well. Developers are pulling games from the Epic Store left and right. 2K has pulled Borlderlands 3, so you can't get that on discount, Klei has pulled Oxygen Not Included, so that's off the table, too, and Paradox has pulled Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines 2 out of the store. The publishers haven't made any announcement as to why the decision was made, but from where fans are standing, it's obvious that it was due to conflicts with Epic Games regarding their Mega Sale.
