With the first Dota 2 Major by Valve, there was a question as to what would happen before Tour 2 begins. Valve had since revealed the Regional Finals with a prize pool of $100,000 for each region.
The different Regional Finals are divided into two weekends:
- February 11 to February 13
- Western Europe
- Southeast Asia
- South America
- February 18 to February 20
- China
- Eastern Europe
- North America
Today, we take a look at the teams competing and give our predictions who’s taking the top spot.
Western Europe
This region has some of the best Dota 2 teams in the world. It's been a wild ride so far and the team competing are:
- Team Liquid
- Team Tickles
- Tundra Esports
- OG
Prediction: With the return of Lasse Aukusti "MATUMBAMAN" Urpalainen, Team Liquid has been dominating the region. They'll likely continue with that for this part of the Tour.
Southeast Asia
The region has seen a shakeup with one of the top teams falling to Division II. For the Regional Finals, the teams participating are:
- BOOM Esports
- Fnatic
- T1
- Team SMG
Prediction: Tour 1 ended with BOOM Esports on top. However, we're giving the win to T1, which has more experience when it comes to the pressures of competition.
South America
Nothing much has changed for this region with the top teams retaining their hold. The top four are:
- Thunder Predator
- Infamous
- beastcoast
- APU King of Kings
Prediction: This one is a toss-up between Thunder Predator and Beastcoast and we're giving the win to the latter.
Eastern Europe
The four teams in the region fighting it out in the Regional Final are:
- Team Spirit
- PuckChamp
- Virtus.pro
- HellRaisers
Prediction: Do we really need to spell this one out? Defending champions Team Spirit hasn't lost a match and they'll likely continue this trend.
North America
This region is pretty much like South America in that the top teams continue to dominate. The teams fighting are:
- Quincy Crew
- Team Undying
- Evil Geniuses
- 4 Zoomers
Prediction: Quincy Crew is hungry for a win and out to prove themselves that they deserve to be part of an organization. We're giving this one to Evil Geniuses who seem to have found their "groove."
China
This region was the last to start and recently finished Tour 1. The four teams are:
- PSG.LGD
- Team Aster
- Royal Never Give Up
- EHOME
Prediction: It's PSG.LGD. Come on!
