Dota 2: The International 2023 Brings the Aegis to Seattle This October

Are you ready for the biggest event in Dota 2? Valve

The biggest Dota 2 tournament of the year returns to Seattle in the Climate Pledge Arena. If the stadium is filled, it should be the largest audience in the history of The International. Matches for the group stage of The International 2023 start on October 14, followed by the playoffs, and then the grand final on October 29.

The Top Two

With two majors done, we're getting a better picture of the team rankings. While Gaimin Gladiators had won both Lima Major and Berlin Major, they're actually not the ones sitting at number one. It's Team Liquid who, while finishing second place in the two majors, was the one that placed first in Tour 1 and Tour 2.

It goes without saying that both Gaimin Gladiators and Team Liquid are guaranteed a spot at The International 2023.

Current Ranking

For those of you who are curious, here's the top 12 so far:

  1. Team Liquid (WEU)
  2. Gaimin Gladiators (WEU)
  3. Talon Esports (SEA)
  4. Evil Geniuses (SA)
  5. 9 Pandas (EEU)
  6. Beastcoast (SA)
  7. TSM (NA)
  8. Shopify Rebellion (NA)
  9. Tundra Esports (WEU)
  10. Execration (SEA)
  11. Team Spirit (EEU)
  12. PSG.LGD (China)

Now, there are some interesting things you can see from the list. First and foremost is that PSG.LGD is the only Chinese team to make it. To be fair though, the other teams from China are just a few ranks lower.
Another change compared to the rankings in previous years is the presence of teams from North and South America. The SA region has been showing the world that they can go toe-to-toe with some of the best in the world.

Bali Major

The third and final major of the DPC Season is Bali Major. It's scheduled to start on June 29 and once again has 18 teams fighting for a large share of the $500,000 prize pool and 600 DPC Points.
Teams joining Bali Major are taken from Tour 3, which is happening on:

  • Western Europe Tour 3: May 15 to June 4
  • Eastern Europe Tour 3: May 14 to June 4
  • North America Tour 3: May 15 to June 4
  • South America Tour 3: May 14 to June 3
  • China Tour 3: May 16 to June 4
  • Southeast Asia Tour 3: May 15 to June 5

Dota 2 is available on PC through Steam.
