An all new trailer for shoot em-up and sidescrolling game Gunvolt Chronicles: Luminous Avenger iX has just been released. Running for over five minutes, the trailer from Inti Creates introduces the game’s plot and its list of characters, from trusty allies to challenging villains.
Gunvolt Chronicles: Luminous Avenger iX is set in an unnamed nation in the near future where humanity has entered an age of evolution. The majority of the population has become “Adepts” – people who possess supernatural powers also known as “Septimas”. This resulted in the small percentage of those who do not have this power (known as “Minos”) to be hunted and executed by the “Institute for the Promotion of Human Evolution”, also known as the “Sumeragi”. In these dark times for the Minos community, an urban legend of the titular “Luminous Avenger iX” arose, who was accompanied by the Muse of Hope named Lola. It is said that the pair will fight for the sake of all Minos.
The trailer showcases the Luminous Avenger iX (also known as Copen) and his combat style, consisting mostly of shooting and dashing with his photon blasters. Defeating enemies allows Copen to gain credits to upgrade his weaponry further. During his battles, he is accompanied by Lola, a combat support robot that he created. Lola gathers Kudos points throughout combat and has special abilities such as Anthem, which revives Copen if his health reaches zero.
Among Copen’s allies is the small group of Minos who live underground. The group is led by a young lady named Kohaku, who has a penchant for repairing junk machines. Among the group is Kyota (a young boy who idolizes Copen), Jin (a mature, kindhearted young man), and Maria (a young girl with a fierce personality).
The trailer also introduced Copen’s foes in the form of powerful Adepts such as Blade (an adept with an electric Septimas who is under the direct control of the Sumeragi), Rebellio (known as the Craftsman’s Dream, possesses the Energy Wool Septimas), Stella (possesses the Gravity Septima), Crimm (known as The Explosive Artiste, has the Detonation Septima), Isola (has the Companion Septima), Bakto (also known as the Leonian Tempest), and Dystnine (in possession of the Vectored Cloth Septima).
Gunvolt Chronicles: Luminous Avenger iX releases for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC on September 26.
