Stream TV Networks showcased its Ultra-D 4K glasses-free video wall at CES Tuesday morning in Las Vegas. The company announced that the 3D TV, which boasts fully adjustable 4K glasses-free 3D, is currently in production and is being manufactured by Pegatron.

“We are a company committed to glasses-free,” said Stream TV CEO Mathu Rajan in the press conference. “We believe glasses-free is the future of the industry.”

One of the biggest drawbacks associated with 3D technology is the need to wear special 3D glasses. Stream TV tackles this obstacle by offering consumers 3D content via Ultra-D technology without requiring the glasses. Their product also allows the user to control the amount of 3D effect as seamlessly as one would turn the volume up or down.

This technology allows a new way to access entertainment content, whether it is movies or gaming. With a newly developed plugin for the Unity Engine developers will be able to create immersive 3D games that do not require 3D glasses.

“There are a lot of applications in the game space,” Stream TV Games Director Zach Lehman told iDigitalTimes. “Not only for gamers as consumers but game designers — it gives them another plane to work with.”

Lehman adds: “We always go 3D into the game. But bringing 3D out of the game is a very exciting design element that some major publishers are exploring right now.”

The advantage for gamers, says Lehman, is the user experience. “For gamers it provides a lot more realism and a lot more depth,” said Lehman. “Even for cartoon style games, there are more artistic style representations. It makes everything more vibrant; it makes everything pop. It’s just a lot deeper an experience.”
