It’s time for the 2016 Billboard Music Awards. The annual ceremony honors the best-- er, most popular artists through a variety of measures such as album sales, streaming numbers and social media influence. It’s called “fan interaction” data, and crunching all of it has led to nominations in a huge amount of categories. There’s lots of prizes up for grabs tonight, and we’re going to take our best shot at predicting them all.

Ciara and Ludacris will host this year’s Billboard Music Awards, anchored by a large cast of presenters and musical performances, which include sets from the likes of Justin Bieber, Rihanna and Ariana Grande. Of course, the fans are tuning in for the concerts, but the stars have arrived to win some recognition.

The Weeknd leads the chase this year with a whopping 19 nominations in 16 categories. Not far behind is Justin Bieber with 12 noms in 11 categories. Drake and Fetty Wap both have 11, while Taylor Swift and Adele each have eight. All of the above, with the exception of Fetty Wap, are competing for the Billboard Music Awards’ most coveted prize -- Top Artist of the year.
