The upcoming indie contemporary adventure game aptly titled The Almost Gone has just been announced by publisher Playdigious and developer Happy Volcano. No release date has been announced yet.
The Almost Gone is a narrative driven adventure game about a young girl trapped between the realms of life and death. Frightened and alone, you will be assuming her positions as you journey to unravel the dark and poignant truth that led to your current predicament. To do this, you need to dig deep and search for the pieces that put your story back together. You start by journeying from your own home, to eerily deserted streets, beautiful apartment blocks, and to sinister abandoned hospitals. All of these beautifully rendered facades and interiors hold clues that will take you closer to the truth about the life you once had, to people you’ve met and the places you’ve been. Soon enough, you will get to answer: Why are you here? Why are you trapped? Will you ever get home?
The game’s poignant and emotional story comes from the award-winning author Joost Vandescasteele, which is complemented by a beautifully rendered, pastel colored diorama. The Almost Gone will last for five chapters, each filled with secrets and twists and turns. The game has already been recognized with multiple awards, such as ones from Indiecade Europe, Belgian Game Awards, and Gamescom 2017.
The Almost Gone’s announcement came accompanied by a 30 second trailer that showed a couple of pieces of its gameplay. The indie title will release soon for the Nintendo Switch, iOS, Android, and PC and Mac via Steam, although no specific date has been confirmed.
