Piccolo Studio is set to release its second game After Us in spring 2023 on PC through Steam, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S. This upcoming exploration adventure game is being released through Private Division, a publishing label of Take-Two Interactive Software.

In the game, players take on the Spirit of Life known as Gaia and try to bring hope to a planet that’s already broken through a surrealistic and post-human journey. Players also get to travel across the stunning environments as they save the souls of extinct animals and make use of Gaia’s powers to fight the dangers plaguing an already inhospitable Earth.

The first game released by Piccolo Studio was Arise: A Simple Story in 2019. So, this upcoming game continues to feature the signature style of the studio in delivering impactful storytelling. Making it even better is the addition of a compelling exploration and adventure.

As Gaia, players can jump, glide, dash, wallride, and even swim to evade not just deadly obstacles but also enemies. Being the embodiment of life, Gaia has the power to help restore and reconstitute the planet. By emitting bursts of light, Gaia can spark new plant growth and reveal new paths to travel.

After Us offers players a fantastic world that has experienced the destructive actions of an unbridled society, and they get to see more of this through 10 different biomes. They also get to discover what happened to different majestic creatures like the last deer hunted down, the final eagle caged, and the last whale harpooned. Each new environment offers new challenges for players while also telling the final moments of the animal, before resurrecting their spirits to return to life to the world.

In a statement, Piccolo Studio Game Director Alexis Corominas shared that the game is all about legacy and hope. He added that when they developed the game, they wanted it to offer a game experience that has a poignant narrative with a creative game design and unique mechanics. He said that they look forward to seeing the reaction of players once the game is released.

Meanwhile, Head of Private Division and Chief Strategy Officer of Take-Two Interactive Michael Worosz revealed that a core pillar of the company has always been giving studios the power to achieve their creative vision. That’s why they're excited to see Piccolo Studio build on the success Arise: A Simple Story with this new title.
