Over 10 Million Units of PlayStation 5 Sold

Congratulations.
Congratulations. Sony

Ever wonder why it’s so hard to buy a PlayStation 5? The obvious answer would be because people are buying them. Now we know just how many: more than 10 million units of the console have been sold worldwide.

Considering that the PS5 was only launched in November of last year, that’s an impressive feat. Not only has it become the fastest-selling console of Sony but it has overtaken the sales of PS4.

In a statement, Sony Interactive Entertainment President and CEO Jim Ryan shared that they are thankful to the fans who have accepted the PS5. He went on to say that while the sale of this console exceeded the sales of its predecessor, there’s still a lot of work to do. Despite the various challenges, Ryan said that improving the inventory levels continues to be their top priority.

As the latest console, the PS5 was able to meet the expectation of players. It has a solid-state drive that’s been customized for high-speed data streaming. There is also the AMD GPU which is capable of 4K resolution display at up to 120 frames per second.

On its release, a lot of reviews praised the DualSense controller and its improved haptic feedback and adaptive triggers. Surprisingly, the polarizing issue was on the design of the console.

In addition to offering better hardware, Sony has managed to grab some partnerships that resulted in exclusivity for PS5. There’s the NBA 2K League, for example, which back in April announced that PS5 would be its official console.

Milestones for Games

It’s not just the console since games from PlayStation Studios have already reached their own milestones. These include:
