Capcom promised a cinematic story mode for Street Fighter V since its release and the company has finally given players an update on what to expect when the June update hits this month.

According to the Capcom Unity blog, the Street Fighter V story expansion will be three to four hours long and titled “A Shadow Falls.” The story consists of five chapters and takes place between Street Fighter III and Street Fighter IV.

This is the first time a Street Fighter game features a cinematic story mode and it will test every player’s mettle. Here’s the description of what to expect from the Street Fighter V story:

Seven “Black Moons” are deployed by Shadaloo, granting M. Bison unimaginable power and enveloping the earth in total darkness. Seeing the moons mysteriously appear in the sky, Ryu, Ken, and Chun-Li embark on an epic journey around the world to retrieve fragment pieces that are the key to stopping the “Black Moons” before it’s too late. Along the way, they encounter the rest of the World Warriors, each of whom have their own agendas and motivations in mind. The final battle between good and evil begins now… who will RISE UP?

The story mode is free for everyone and will allow players to play as the six new DLC characters: Alex, Guile, Ibuki, Balrog, Urien and Juri. However, the latter three will be released for general play later this year, so be sure to check back for when those dates are revealed.

Besides the story mode, the in-game currency system will also change with the June update. Zenny will no longer be the in-game currency in Street Fighter V. Instead, Capcom will use the PlayStation and Steam stores to carry real money transactions.

Players will still earn in-game currency by playing SFV, but now the option to purchase currency using real money will be streamlined.

Story Mode costumes will be available for purchase with the June update as well, meaning you’ll no longer need to complete the Character Stories to access them.

A release date for the Story Mode and June Update is not yet known.
