Sims 4 Pets rumors have been circling for over a year and the latest appeared to be the most solid piece of evidence yet. Well, except for the fact it’s fake.

The Sims Community first spotted a Czech retail website listed The Sims 4 Pets on their page along with a release date and a box art tender. The site lists Nov. 10, 2017 as the big day for Pets and pictures a box that has the Sims 4 logo placed on top of a photo of two Sims on a couch with two dogs and a cat. Simmers were really excited until SimGuru Graham took to Twitter to confirm it's indeed fake. He even gave Sims players a tip about how to spot a fake render.

“One easy trick to spot a fake render... are the Sims wearing a bunch of old clothes? Then it's fake! #scammershatehim

There are plenty of rumors about pets even though the latest box art render was debunked. Last month, a Slovakian retail site listed an expansion named Sims 4: Dogs and Cats with a November 2017 release date. In addition, Sims modders have found numerous instances of code hidden in recent updates and game packs, including the latest, Parenthood.

Overseas sites leaking dates aside, one solid clue was is the jean jacket with a paw print patch recently added to Create-A-Sim. The Sims team has been known to include clues on clothes. Before the paw patch it was a city skyline on a tanktop months before City Living released. In addition to the clothing hint, players have also been hearing barking sounds around town. Coincidence? Probably not.
