Pokémon GO Invites You to Rediscover Kanto in this Latest Event

A new event is now live in Pokémon GO and invites trainers to Rediscover Kanto. By exploring biomes, they get to experience the refreshed visuals. This event started yesterday, April 22, and is expected to run until May 9.

For the duration of the event, Pokémon which were originally discovered in the Kanto region are going to appear in specific biomes. However, there may be some that could appear outside of these biomes especially during certain Pokémon GO Seasons or special events. Be sure to Work with other trainers and find as many biome types.

Of course, it won't be an official Pokémon GO without the bonuses and there's some cool ones this time. Event bonuses include:

  • Increased XP for a seven-day PokéStop spin streak.
  • Increased XP for a seven-day Pokémon catch streak.
  • Friendship levels increases faster than normal through:
    • opening Gifts
    • trading Pokémon
    • battling together in raids, Gyms, or Trainer Battles
  • Increased chance to encounter their respective biomes these Pokémon:
    • Shiny Bulbasaur
    • Shiny Charmander
    • Shiny Squirtle

Featured Attacks

These featured attacks are available when evolving these Pokémon during the Rediscover Kanto event:

  • Venusaur
    • Evolve Ivysaur (Bulbasaur's Evolution) to get a Venusaur that knows the Charged Attack Frenzy Plant.
  • Charizard
    • Evolve Charmeleon (Charmander's Evolution) to get a Charizard that knows the Charged Attack Blast Burn.
  • Blastoise
    • Evolve Wartortle (Squirtle's Evolution) to get a Blastoise that knows the Charged Attack Hydro Cannon.

Field Research

Event-themed Field Research tasks are available. Finish certain Field Research tasks to earn Mega Energy for these Pokémon:

  • Venusaur Mega Energy
  • Charizard Mega Energy
  • Blastoise Mega Energy

Special Research

Special Research are also available to all trainers for free starting with the Rediscover Kanto event. Those who complete the Special Research get to earn items, XP, Stardust, and even encounters with event-themed Pokémon. Remembers that Special Research don't expire so trainers can complete it at their own pace.

Cleffa Hatch Day

This weekend, trainers are invited to join the Cleffa Hatch Day. On April 28 from 2:00 p.m. (local time) to 5:00 p.m. (local time), Cleffa hatches much more frequently from 2 km Eggs. Trainers also have an increased chance of hatching Shiny Cleffa. The bonuses for this event are:

  • 2× Candy from hatching Eggs.
  • An increased chance of hatching Shiny Cleffa.
  • 2 km Eggs drop more frequently from PokéStops.
