The Samsung Galaxy Note launch could get further and further away from IFA, if recent rumors are to be believed. A report out of South Korea suggests that the Galaxy Note 6 could launch as early as July, with Android N in tow.

The Samsung Galaxy S7 has been on the market for just under two weeks, but speculation about the Galaxy Note 6 has already started. Some rumors suggest the device could feature 6GB of RAM or 256GB of internal storage. At iDigitalTimes , we wonder if the device will feature a USB Type-C port.

But what of a launch even earlier than that of the Galaxy Note 5? Samsung surprised the mobile market when it announced and launched the Note 5 in a standalone event in mid-August instead of early September during IFA. The manufacturer indicated it wanted to pull ahead of competitor devices that release in the early fall, including the iPhone and Nexus.

At this time, reports of a July launch for the Galaxy Note 6 should be taken with a grain of salt. However, if the Galaxy Note 6 was to be announced in July, Android N could possibly power the device.

Google has already begun sending out developer previews of Android N and indicated the upcoming software will be available sometime this summer. The tech giant is expected to reveal more details about Android N in May. But exact unveiling and availability dates are usually a bit more spontaneous.

If the Samsung Galaxy Note 6 does feature Android N, it may be the first non-Nexus Android device to ship with the still unreleased software. Many prior Samsung devices have held the accolade of being the first non-Nexus Android device to ship with the latest Android software. In 2015, the first device to sell with Android 6.0 Marshmallow was the HTC One A9. It doesn’t really mean much, but many manufacturers like to use it as a marketing ploy.
