Crunchyroll, the anime streaming service, has released a series of infographics that reveal which series anime fans watched the most in 2016 based on console and country.

While it might seem easy enough to predict what everyone is watching, the list is actually a bit surprising. Popular and critically beloved anime like Yuri on Ice did not take the top spot in most of the world. That honor went to Re: ZERO , as you can see from the infographic below, but Yuri on Ice did snag the number two spot.

JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure and the new Berserk anime also made the top 15 list for most popular anime in 2016.

Check out the Crunchyroll infographic below.

As for which anime console users are watching, Crunchyroll also released a bunch of infographics via IGN that show the top anime watched in 2016 based on console. It’s an interesting list of anime and Crunchyroll pulled data from older consoles like the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and even the Wii.

Here’s the most popular anime from each console "compared to the popularity across all consoles:"

  • Xbox One - Dragon Ball Super

  • PlayStation 4 - Persona 5 the Animation - The Day Breakers

  • Wii U - Cute High Earth Defense Club Love!

  • PS Vita - Brave Beats

  • PlayStation 3 - Cute High Earth Defense Club Love!

  • Xbox 360 - Fairy Tail

  • Wii - Dream Festival!

So what do you think of the list of top anime in 2016 based on country and console? What series was your favorite in the past year? Sound off in the comments section below.
