Mass Effect: Andromeda will not have quick save features on day one, according to a tweet from BioWare producer Michael Gamble. This news arrives during a terrible pre-release week littered with negative impressions.

As those who’ve played any past games in the Mass Effect series will know, quick save essentially functioned as a way to instantly record progress during low-action moments. For comparison’s sake, it functions much like Nintendo’s instant save option in Breath Of The Wild. However, despite being a gameplay staple for the series, Mass Effect: Andromeda won’t have it at launch.

When asked by a demo player about where quick save has gone, Gamble replied “We’re totally looking at it.” He further added that “it won’t be day one, but it’s something we are investigating.”

While that sounds like good news for folks who plan to take full advantage of Mass Effect: Andromeda’s exploration features, however, it’s also not very specific. Game developers often “investigate” certain concepts that are never added to the final game. From the looks of things, BioWare will likely gauge player reaction after the game releases to see how much demand there is for something like that.

This small bit of news is just icing on the cake for what has been a week of ridicule for the highly anticipated RPG. Once the game’s early access demo went live on Xbox One and PC earlier this week, gamer attention immediately turned to the title’s odd facial animations and technical glitches. While only given a brief look at the finished product, overall impressions seem far more negative than positive.

Mass Effect has been under public crossfire before, of course. When Mass Effect 3 released in 2012, players rallied so passionately against the game’s ending that DLC had to be made to fix it. Publisher Electronic Arts was also named the “worst company in America” the following year.

Mass Effect: Andromeda comes March 21 to PS4, Xbox One and PC.
