On Friday, The Hollywood Reporter announced Dave Chappelle will host the first post-election episode of Saturday Night Live, accompanied by musical guest A Tribe Called Quest. The episode will air on NBC Nov. 12.

Confirmation of Chappelle’s appearance on SNL raises the question of whether fans can expect to see a reprisal of any of the classic impressions and sketches from Chappelle’s Show, which ran on Comedy Central between 2003 and 2006.

With the recent passing of Prince, it’s highly possible we could see a comedic tribute to the legendary musician. The prospect of a new installment of “Charlie Murphy’s True Hollywood Stories” featuring Chappelle as Rick James is also exciting. However, it seems somewhat unlikely we’ll get to see both Prince and Rick James, and Prince seems the better bet of the two.

Though it first aired over a decade ago, it’s worth remembering Chappelle’s Show tends to be a bit more explicit than the typical SNL fare. Given that Chappelle’s episode of SNL will air just a few days after the presidential election on Nov. 8, it’s likely much of the episode will have a political focus. We could see Chappelle’s take on the Obama presidency, or even his black white supremacist, Clayton Bigsby, as a supporter of Alec Baldwin’s Donald Trump. Any of these are possibilities, but it’s likely the show won’t fully take shape until more is known about the elections. Still, don’t expect to hear a reprise Stinky the Grump’s ‘F*ck It’ song from “Kneehigh Park.”

Chappelle hosts Saturday Night Live on Nov. 12. In the meantime, you can check out clips and past episodes of Chappelle’s Show on Comedy Central’s website.

Which classic Chappelle’s Show bits and characters would you like to see brought to life again on SNL? Are you hoping for a Charlie Murphy cameo as much as we are? Let us know your thoughts in the comments!
