Saturday Night Live absolutely demolished the presidential debate on last night’s premiere. SNL starts with a cold open, where the castmates lampoon whatever happened that week. This week, Trump and Clinton went head to head in a battle of nitwits, so SNL couldn’t resist.
Alec Baldwin is back on the SNL stage, doing an absolutely perfect Donald Trump. Baldwin will always be the scoutmaster in Canteen Boy to me, but his Trump is a strong contender for second place. Kate McKinnon also does an amazing job capturing what people feel about the Democratic candidate. Some people see her as unlikeable robot who lies (looking at you South Park ), but regardless, they know she won the debate.
My absolute favorite line was from Baldwin: “she’s the one with the bad temperament, she’s always screaming, she’s constantly lying, her hair is crazy, her face is extremely orange, except around the eyes and when she stops talking, her mouth looks like a tiny, little butt hole.” Dare I say, genius.
Hell, even Michael Che managed to capture the pure awkwardness with his Lester Holt, the caster of the original debate.
