New Dark Souls 3: Ashes of Ariandel footage hit the web this week, featuring several enemies we’ll encounter in the upcoming expansion, giving fans of the brutally difficult franchise new footage to over-analyze while waiting for the first Dark Souls 3 expansion. Fortunately, for the aforementioned DS3 enthusiasts, the new Ashes of Ariandel gameplay doesn’t disappoint.

This week’s Dark Souls 3: Ashes of Ariandel video isn’t especially long at just over four and a half minutes, but Bandai Namco and FromSoftware packed an impressive amount of content into our first Ashes of Ariandel gameplay preview. Granted, many of the new enemies getting screen time this week have appeared in previously released screenshots ; however, this marks the first time we get to see attack patterns for any of the new foes. We also see some of the new equipment at the player’s disposal, including weapons and support items that should prove useful in the frosty outdoor environment from the video.

Before you press play, know there are several spoilers for Ashes of Ariandel in the clip. We’ll freely admit that we couldn’t tell you what all of them were. But if Bandai Namco felt the need to include a warning at the top of the video, then it’s probably worth saying twice. We can’t be the only ones who jump forward a few seconds, when watching YouTube videos, in an effort to skip the developer logos and “This is pre-alpha” warnings that frequently precede such footage.

For a closer look at Dark Souls 3: Ashes of Ariandel , take a few minutes to watch the new gameplay footage from Bandai Namco. Then head down to the comments section and let us know what you’re hoping to see in the first Dark Souls 3 expansion.
