Call Of Duty: WWII will begin its Private Beta Aug. 25 and Sledgehammer Games just revealed the testing period’s maps, modes and weapons during a Gamescom stream We’ll recap all the hot leads below.

  • Modes: Team Deathmatch, Domination, Hardpoint, Moshpit and War
  • Maps: Gibraltar, Pointe Du Hoc, Ardennes Forest
  • Weapons: Dozens of options from the first 20 levels of progression. The list includes the PPSH-41, Type 100, Grease Gun, M1 Garand, StG 44, MG 15, 1903 Mannlicher-Schoenauer, Bazooka and German Panzer
  • Scorestreaks: Flamethrower, Molotov Cocktail, Paratrooper Support, Care Package and more.
  • Dates: Aug. 25 - Aug. 28 at 1 p.m. EDT [PS4 Only]; Sept. 1 - Sept. 4 at 1 p.m. EDT [Xbox One and PS4]

Aside from revealing these crucial beta details, the developers also teased a few morsels about the game’s larger multiplayer offering that will be available in November. A major feature of the stream was a trailer for the 48-player online Headquarters in which players can show off their accomplishments, fight each other in 1v1 PvP and try out different weapons, equipment and Scorestreaks before taking them to a public lobby.

Also critical to the multiplayer suite are the game’s five Divisions. They’ve been detailed before and they’re essentially a slight rework of the existing create-a-class system. Each Division comes with perks called Basic Training, as well as unique uniforms and skill traits tailored to different playstyles. Soldiers can be further customized with exclusive prestige weapons and ceremonial helmets in each Division.

Most of these details have already been revealed via Game Informer exclusives and Sledgehammer blog posts in recent weeks, but there were a few small teases we hadn’t heard before. We now know that one of the additional War mode maps will let players experience D-Day from the Axis perspective. A brand new multiplayer map, called Flak, will also be the site of a CTF debut stream at 2 p.m. EDT Aug. 23. During that presentation, we’ll learn more about a new CoDCast alternative called Skycam or Hammercam.

Call Of Duty: WWII comes to PS4, Xbox One and PC Nov. 3. Read an in-depth description of the new Gibraltar map here.
