Samsung has made a comeback with the Samsung Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge. The smartphones have helped the Korean manufacturer revive its sales slump and earn its first profit in two years . But can the company keep that momentum going? It remains to be seen, as it will be months until the next Samsung flagship is on the market.

Even so, rumors for the Galaxy Note 6 suggest a device with strong potential. If the previous Galaxy Note releases offer any indication, the Note 6 could be on the market sometime in August. But there are many other smartphones scheduled to release later in 2016 that could be big competition for the Samsung.

Check out a list of devices that will be vying for consumer dollars alongside the Galaxy Note 6.

2016 (HTC) Nexus

With Google already working hard on Android N, it is more than likely the tech giant is also working on the Nexus hardware that will accompany its new software. Current rumors suggest the upcoming Nexus smartphones could both be manufactured by HTC . But so far there are few details available for the devices by way of specs. Some reports suggest the HTC Nexus smartphone could have 5-inch and 5.5-inch displays. A new rumor suggests the new Nexus devices could be announced next week during Google I/O; however, that suggestion seems a bit farfetched.

A Google executive indicated the Andoid N software -- and therefore the new Nexus smartphones -- may be announced in the summer and Google I/O does not take place in the summer. Typically, there are a decent amount of rumors and leaks available for the Nexus smartphones before their release, so there may be some time before they are official.
