‘Westworld’, ‘Game of Thrones’ Crossover Gets The OK From George R.R. Martin, But HBO Probably Won’t Let It Happen

Westworld showrunners are down for a Game of Thrones-themed world that fans of the show want to see happen, including the mastermind behind HBO’s hit series George R.R. Martin.

Westworld showrunners Jonathan Nolan recently shared with Entertainment Weekly that Martin liked the idea of bringing back fan-favorite Game of Thrones characters through Westworld. Needless to say, Nolan was flattered by Martin’s approval of a crossover.

“We love George and our daughter’s first trip anywhere in the world was out to Santa Fe for a screening of The Prestige at his theater, the Jean Cocteau,” Nolan told EW . “He’s a lovely guy and a stunning writer and it’s flattering he would encourage a crossover. We should be so lucky.”

It would be interesting to see Ned Stark interact with some of the other robots found in Westworld . However, HBO probably won’t mix up the two series, at least not while Game of Thrones is still on the air. HBO hasn’t comment on Nolan’s remarks about a crossover, but it’s fun to think about.

The great thing about Martin’s world is there are other eras the show can explore without ruining the premise of Westworld . Dunk and Egg anyone? No? Okay, well at least HBO has given viewers another show reddit can obsess over.

So far there have been plenty of interesting fan theories regarding Westworld , especially about the Man in Black. Some people seem to think he’s connected to William, a character the show introduced as the man in the white hate in the second episode. Westworld ’s timeline isn’t exactly clear, so it’s possible there’s more than one reality happening in the show.

Another interesting theory about Westworld centers around the flies we saw in the first episode. Some fans believe the flies were included in the world as an indicator of a possible robot uprising in the future. According to the theory, robots are programed to not hurt living creatures so killing a fly means something is wrong with their code. We saw Dolores kill a fly, and she’s much more aware of the world they live in compared to other robots.
