We might see the Oceanside community’s return in the second half of The Walking Dead Season 7.
Showrunner Scott Gimple teased what’s to come in The Walking Dead Season 7 during an interview with Entertainment Weekly. Gimple briefly spoke about Oceanside, a community Tara encountered during her trip to find supplies. Tara made a promise to keep Oceanside’s location a secret after one of the girls from the community helped her escape.
However, Oceanside has something Rick desperately needs: guns. Gimple told EW , “There’s definitely unfinished business there. And the information that Oceanside — and what it possesses — would be a very big deal to Rick”
Tara is loyal to Alexandria. When she made the promise to the Oceanside girl to keep the community a secret, she didn’t know her girlfriend Denise was dead. Denise was shot in the head by Dwight using Daryl’s crossbow. Tara probably feels differently after learning what happened to Denise, Abraham and Glenn.
We wouldn’t be surprised if Tara told Rick about Oceanside, but that doesn’t mean the ladies will join the fight. The women of Oceanside are afraid of Negan. They witnessed Negan kill the men in their lives. Negan is the reason why they kill every stranger they encounter, out of fear they might work for the Saviors.
It also won’t help that Tara betrayed their trust if she tells Rick about their community. How can the people of Oceanside rely on Alexandria to protect them when one of their own ratted them out? Tara will have to play her cards right if she’s going to convince them to fight. They could also just shoot Tara on sight. After all, Negan is the devil they know and Rick is only a slightly better person to align themselves with.
