Kingkiller Chronicle Book 3 Loses To Fallout 4: This Is What You Get Release Date Gripers

Must. Play. More. Fallout 4. Can't. Focus. On. Work.
Must. Play. More. Fallout 4. Can't. Focus. On. Work. Bethesda

Like many humans, Kingkiller Chronicle author Patrick Rothfuss is quite excited to play Fallout 4. Also, like many humans, Patrick Rothfuss would rather pick up a White Castle Crave Crate and romp around the Fallout 4 Commonwealth than do work for money. But unlike you — who probably just hit Level 30 and are still scrounging the M&Ms out of your yellowing underwear — Patrick Rothfuss gets to play Fallout 4, help charity and stick a big, fat middle finger in the face of those annoying gripers who think they’re entitled to set the release date for Kingkiller Chronicle Book 3.

Kingkiller Chronicle Book 3 Release Date - Fallout 4 Delay

Kingkiller Chronicle author Pat Rothfuss isn’t just writing Kingkiller Chronicle Book 3, currently titled The Doors of Stone, but also running a charity called Worldbuilders, which works to unite authors and book lovers “to make the world a better place.” When Rothfuss realized that Worldbuilder’s yearly fundraiser (which raises money for Heifer International) overlapped with prime Fallout 4 release date playtime, he came up with an inspired solution:

“So here’s some truths I think are fairly self-evident.

  • I want to play Fallout 4. And I deserve to play a game every once in a while.
  • I understand a lot of you are impatient for book three. (So am I, honestly.)
  • We *are* in the middle of the Worldbuilders fundraiser.

So here’s what we’re going to do. We’re going to have some fun with this. I have a supervillain-esque delight in certain types of gambling. So I’m going to put precious gaming time on the line for the good of the fundraiser.”

Every person who donates to the Worldbuilders fundraiser gets to vote with their dollars: will Pat spend the evening writing Kingkiller Chronicle Book 3, or playing Fallout 4?

The scheme has worked, and Rothfuss has spent a number of pleasant evenings streaming Fallout 4 and not writing Kingkiller Chronicle Book 3.

Bonus: the Kingkiller Chronicle Book 3 vs. Fallout 4 fundraising drive allowed Rothfuss to stick it to people who demand that he sacrifice his life for the sake of their Kingkiller Chronicle Book 3 release date. Rothfuss shared a few comments from Kingkiller Chronicle Book 3 release date dickheads on his blog:

“Nobody gives a shit about this. Get your ass off facebook (sic) and go and do your fucking job and write. That’s all anyone wants from you. Quit wasting your time going to conventions and playing D&D and doing podcasts and bitching about stuff on your blog. You’re not a celebrity. You’re a writer. Or at least you used to be. Now you’re just a douche who doesn’t even put in an honest day’s work…”

So far, random Facebook guy, the people seem to disagree with you. Fundraising has overwhelming decided that, just like the rest of us, Kingkiller Chronicle Book 3 author Patrick Rothfuss deserves to waste some time playing Fallout 4.
