To those on reddit or Twitter who have been bashing the cards revealed for Hearthstone’ s new expansion, Knights Of The Frozen Throne , I’ve got something to tell you. It’s already day two of the reveals and we’ve only seen five cards, but fans across all social media platforms have been sharpening their pitchforks and flaming at what we’ve seen so far. I’d be lying if I said I also haven’t been a bit disappointed by what we’ve seen so far, Ticking Abomination makes my brain hurt and Blood Queen Lana'thel seems terrible on paper. After waiting months for any tangible news about Death Knights, crazy spells and sharkbears, this seems like a major letdown.

The newest card revealed, Prince Taldaram has been getting shredded by the Hearthstone subreddit. Turning into a 3/3 copy of any minion on the board could be good, but at the expense of every three-cost card in your deck it just doesn’t seem worth it. I’d rather run Kill Command, Ice Block, Murloc Warleader, SI: 7 Agent or even Silverback Patriarch over this mediocre minion. Here are just a few of of the sarcastic, pissed-off or toxic comments I’ve seen about this card’s release on Prince Taldaram’s reveal post:

“The ratio of legendaries revealed to legendaries I wouldn't be happy to unpack is unsettling at the moment…” -Waalimer

“You could make a 3/3 angry chicken!” -D0nkeyHS

“It is strange that Blizzard is rolling out the new expansion with really mediocre cards (Hunter Deathknight is most exciting...). Would be a bummer if they go from one of the best expansions (Un'Goro) to a clunker.” -Fashion-Plate

“Wait what? This feels like low-end custom Hearthstone cards” -robbierottens

The reactions on Twitter haven’t been much better:

Most of the comments are pretty much the same, with many baffled about why Blizzard created a crappier version of Mirage Caller . I was a bit baffled to when I saw this card, without seeing the rest of the cards in the set it looks beyond terrible, just like its two-cost version Prince Keleseth . At this rate, the four-mana version is going to give a minion +1/+1 if your deck has no four-drops. After a set that was as amazing as Journey To Un’Goro , that completely redefined a stale meta and brought life back into the game, this looks like such a let down.

As someone who’s been following the video games hype cycle since X-Play was still on television, I can tell you this is nothing new. Fans will always get pissed when they don’t get what they want and right now we’re getting undead table scraps when we want a Lich King full-course meal. The expansion is still a month away, so there’s still plenty of time for the awesome cards to start showing up. There are still 130 cards left to be thawed out, there’s no need to get so angry.

Is the anger for these cards justified or does everyone just need to take a chill pill and cool down? Tell us in the comments.
