The upcoming Power Rangers movie reboot from Lionsgate is still months away, but little by little potential moviegoers are learning more about this new world.

While the trailer released in October helped to explain the new Angel Grove and how the Rangers fit in this world, there’s still a lot we still don’t know. So when Alpha 5 was confirmed for the upcoming reboot (with Bill Hader voicing) the question of how this “comic-relief” character would be incorporated in this seemingly more serious adaptation was raised.

Well, IGN has the exclusive concept art of Alpha 5 in the upcoming Power Rangers movie and it certainly fits the more alien tone of the movie and the mythos surrounding it.

Alpha 5’s new style makes the robotic assistant look more extraterrestrial, with long limbs and insect-like eyes on its saucer head. It’s a pretty jarring shift from the character’s original look in the 90’s television series but matches how the Power Rangers armor looks, so at least it’s consistent.

Perhaps the concept art is just an idea of what Alpha 5 will look like but the execution on screen will be much better. We can only hope.

The Power Rangers movie stars Becky G, RJ Cyler, Naomi Scott, Ludi Lin and Dacre Montgomery are set to play Trini, Billy, Kimberly, Zack and Jason, respectively. Bryan Cranston will play Zordon while Elizabeth Banks will play the villainous Rita Repulsa.

Power Rangers will release March 24.
