While admittedly thin, USA Network has written a blog post listing Instagram photos taken by the cast of Mr. Robot, who are currently filming Season 2 of the show. The two main highlights include the return of Frankie Shaw, who played Shayla Nico or Elliot’s short-lived girlfriend, and filming at the Coney Island hacker den location.

Shayla’s involvement in Mr. Robot S eason 2 may mostly be in Elliot’s flashbacks. Season 2 will apparently delve into explaining Elliot’s past and current emotional state at the end of Season 1, and the death of Shayla may have a lot to do with Elliot’s emotional crumbling.

Filming at the Coney Island hacker den location could be explained by the recent addition of Grace Gummer to the cast. Season 2 will focus on consequences according to Sam Esmail, the show’s creator, writer and now director, and Gummer is slated to play an FBI agent investigating the Mr. Robot hacker crew. If Gummer’s character has managed track down this location, who’s to say the extent of her investigation, and how close she will get to finding Elliot.

Mr. Robot is filming in New York City right this moment out of a studio in Brooklyn. The schedule is apparently quite hectic, with 3-4 episodes being filmed per week, and Esmail editing them during the weekends. The flipside of course is that the USA Network has confirmed that Mr. Robot will premiere on July 13, and the release date can’t come soon enough.
