We’ve reached the next stop on the road to Minecraft 1.12, known as the World of Color update, and our latest preview of the game’s next patch includes a smattering of new content for the Minecraft community. It also includes bug fixes that should alleviate problems with recent additions to the game, including the parrots and new books introduced last month.
Minecraft snapshot 17w15a isn’t the most exciting patch preview in the sandbox game’s eight-year history. New features are pretty sparse, as is typically the case after a few months of new snapshots, but our latest look at Minecraft Update 1.12 includes dozens of bug fixes for recent and longtime problems. Some of the solutions are very timely, addressing issues with the new recipe book added in March, while others -- like a fix that should prevent tamed dogs from attacking tamed cats -- address issues with much older Minecraft content.
Anyone who explores Minecraft snapshot 17w15a may also notice some small changes to item placement. Mojang says stairs are now “a little more solid,” meaning walls, torches, fences and other objects should now connect properly. The studio also addressed a bug that caused players to be randomly kicked from servers running the latest Minecraft snapshot.

Added descriptions to advancements & changed some titles. It's not entirely final, but we're getting there!
Added colored beds! You can craft them with coloured wool or dyeing a white bed
Players shouldn't be getting kicked from servers randomly now, and both recipe book & advancements should work fine in multiplayer
The recipe book is a lot more stable, hopefully no longer duplicating items
Added a toast notification for toggling the narrator
Added the option to toggle narrator between: off, chat & system, chat only, system messages only
Made stairs a little more solid, allowing torches, fences, glass panes, walls & snow to connect to them properly
