Metro Exodus is almost here, which means it’s almost time for our hero Artyom to finally break free from the Russian subway tunnels and get a breath of fresh air. But when can you start exploring the surface world of this post-apocalyptic Russia?

According to the listing on the Microsoft Store, Metro Exodus is available on Xbox One starting at midnight on February 15. The Microsoft Store doesn’t list if this is based on any time zone, so it’s likely Metro Exodus will unlock at 12 a.m. local time on Xbox One.

Over at the PlayStation Store, Metro Exodus also doesn’t have a specified unlock time. Generally, games on PS4 unlock at 12 a.m. EST, which means those on the west coast can start playing at 9 p.m. on February 14. What a Valentine’s Day miracle! This isn’t explicitly stated like other games, so you may have to wait with the Xbox crowd.

The PC release for Metro Exodus is a little tricky. Those that pre-ordered on Steam will be able to download through Steam. Those that missed out now have to buy through the Epic Games Store. The Epic Games Store does not list when we can expect to start playing Metro Exodus , and Steam can often change which time zone it picks to release games. It’s best to stay close to your computer if you’re itching to get playing as soon as possible.

There’s also the interesting issue with pre-loading. PS4, Xbox One and Steam all offer pre-loading of Metro Exodus , while Epic Games Store does not currently support that feature. This means you’ll have to wait until February 15 to start your Metro Exodus download. If you want to play as early as possible, you’ll want to stick to consoles (or Steam if you already made a purchase there). While it may be disappointing to some that the Epic Games Store doesn’t support pre-loading, Metro Exodus is $10 cheaper there compared to other stores if you’re looking to save some cash.

So what do you think? Are you excited to play the next adventure in the Metro series? Will you start right at midnight or wait until a more reasonable hour? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below.
