‘Mass Effect Andromeda’ Day One Patch Won’t Fix Animations, So You’ll Experience Dead Facial Expressions Too

Those lucky enough to secure an advance copy of Mass Effect Andromeda have all had the same thought cross their mind: “What the fuck is wrong with their faces?!”

BioWare’s facial animations are so bad. Like really bad. Just one search on YouTube will make you furrow your brows in confusion over why these characters can’t emote. Seriously, they look they’re been injected with botox or gone straight to work after visiting the dentist’s office. We won’t even go into the joker smiles that seem to be a recurring theme in Mass Effect games.

Damn, is everyone in Andromeda a robot? Look at this people!

And BioWare isn’t doing anything to correct their shenanigans. At least, not on day one. Ian Frazier, lead designer on Mass Effect Andromeda , updated fans about the game’s day one patch on Twitter. When asked if animations fixes would be included in the patch, this is what Frazier had to say:

Prepare yourself to be randomly distracted by blank stares and weird blinking. Twitter seems be keeping itself amused right now with all the Mass Effect Andromeda trash talk.

Don’t worry! BioWare will definitely correct its bugs. We wouldn’t be surprised if the team wasn’t scrambling to fix the issues now. iDigitalTimes’ own Bob Fekete has had plenty of time with Mass Effect Andromeda , and he’s pretty happy with the game, even with its flaws. Be sure to check back on Monday, March 20 for our official review.

Mass Effect Andromeda is out March 21 for PS4, Xbox One and PC.
