Marvel’s ‘Guardians of The Galaxy Vol. 2’ Synopsis Teases Mantis And Even More Familiar Heroes

After Doctor Strange hits theaters Nov. 4, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is next on the docket for May 5, 2017. It’s too early for any raw footage, but we do finally have a Guardians Vol. 2 synopsis that confirms some speculation.

Set to the backdrop of ‘Awesome Mixtape #2,’ Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 continues the team’s adventures as they traverse the outer reaches of the cosmos. The Guardians must fight to keep their newfound family together as they unravel the mysteries of Peter Quill’s true parentage. Old foes become new allies and fan-favorite characters from the classic comics will come to our heroes’ aid as the Marvel cinematic universe continues to expand. ( Via Stitch Kingdom )

Peter Quill’s team will gain a few more allies in the quest to find his father’s secret identity, and Mantis coming aboard is a near certainty, considering recent casting rumors surrounding Pom Klementieff taking the role as powerful telepath and former Avenger. She could also help Rocket regenerate a new Groot from the small twig left over after he sacrificed himself to save his friends. As for foes becoming allies, that’s most likely Nebula and Yondu, though it will be interesting to see how Star-Lord and Yondu make up after betraying each other.

What other fan-favorite characters could this synopsis be referring to?

Rumor has it Vison will flee Earth following Civil War , and who knows, he could run into the Guardians. Not to mention he’s got the yellow infinity stone embedded in his forehead ever since Avengers: Age of Ultron . Adam Warlock’s presence has been teased in both Guardians of the Galaxy and Thor: The Dark World , and he is for sure a fan favorite. This is an intuitive pick, especially if rumors giving Elizabeth Debicki the role of his Enclave clone, Ayesha, prove true. Moondragon joining would please many fans, but Captain Marvel showing up to aid the Guardians would be a better tie-in between the Avengers and the cosmic space of the MCU, and a perfect way to set up for her solo debut in November 2018.
