iOS 9.3.1 Released: Apple Fixes Link Crashing Bug At Long Last Apple

Apple has just released iOS 9.3.1 for the iPhone and iPad, and the update seems to fix the link crashing bug that’s been affecting users who updated to iOS 9.3 as early adopters. The iPhone SE and 9.7-inch iPad Pro will be shipping with iOS 9.3 pre-installed, so it’s a good thing Apple has fixed the issue and released an update.

The link crashing bug supposedly came from a corrupted Shared Web Credentials daemon, which allowed third-party apps to share usernames and passwords. The bug occurred whenever an iOS 9.3 user deep-pressed or long-tapped on a link.

The aforementioned bug wasn’t the only problem Apple found on their hands with iOS 9.3. Supposedly, the iOS 9.3 update bricked iPad 2 devices, leading Apple to temporarily block that iPad generation’s ability to load the update. 9to5Mac is also reporting that iOS 9.3 builds had to be re-released for a host of older devices, to “address activation problems.”

iOS 9.3 brought it with Night Shift mode, which uses an iPhone’s or iPad’s location to determine time of day and shift the color balance of the device accordingly; sorting and password locking features to the official Apple Notes app; an iOS education app that allows a teacher to control and open apps for a classroom at large; and new and improved dashboards for the News and Health apps.
