A new Ghost Recon Wildlands trailer is out this weekend, for the first time in nearly a year, and our latest glimpse of the unreleased open-world shooter has us pretty hyped for Ubisoft Paris’ bold new take on the Ghost Recon franchise.

It’s been nearly a year since the last time we checked in with Ghost Recon Wildlands. The project was originally announced during Ubisoft’s E3 2015 press conference, though not actually shown on the show floor, and the publisher hasn’t said a peep about the game in the ensuing 11 months. But the publication of a new Ghost Recon Wildlands trailer suggests Ubisoft might finally be ready to begin promoting the next entry in the Ghost Recon franchise.

And what do you know...E3 2016 is just around the corner.

If you missed last year’s reveal, Ghost Recon Wildlands marks a significant change in the series’ core gameplay. GRW abandons the mission-based format of previous Ghost Recon campaigns, instead dropping players into a gorgeous recreation of Bolivia and offering all of the freedom we’ve come to expect from any open-world property. Over the course of the game, it will be the player’s job to take down the fictitious Santa Blanca cartel. But how you approach that mission will be entirely up to you.

For a closer look at Ghost Recon Wildlands, including some of the many people and places we’ll see in the open-world shooter, take a couple of minutes to watch the new Ghost Recon Wildlands trailer from Ubisoft. Then head down to the comments section and let us know whether or not you’re looking forward to the debut of Ghost Recon Wildlands.

Ghost Recon Wildlands is in development for PS4, Xbox One and PC. The game is expected to debut in 2017.
