Bethesda will likely be hosting its own E3 press conference for the third straight year at 2017’s E3. Does this mean we’ll be seeing the announcement of The Elder Scrolls VI next year? It’s possible.

In an interview with Metro, Bethesda’s VP of PR and marketing, Pete Hines, mentioned the studio is hard at work on various projects. When asked if Bethesda would be having an E3 press conference in 2017, Hines answered with “ Probably, given what I know about what we’re gonna have going on next year, and what we’re gonna have to talk about, I would say that we’d probably have enough stuff to fill the time.”

One of the big reasons for the press conference, according to Hines, is the ability to announce something to the world at once, instead of only telling a few people. “And again, mostly because I really continue to like the idea of being able to talk to everybody about what we’re doing at the same time,” said Hines. “So yeah, knowing what I know, I think we would probably do another one next year.”

Does this mean we’ll see Elder Scrolls VI or Fallout 5 announced next year? Probably not. Those games take a very long time to develop, and leaks usually come popping out along the way. Look at Fallout 4 and the leaked Boston script as an example.

Also, Hines seems to really enjoy the way Fallout 4 was announced, that is to say Bethesda revealed the game six months before release, not years and years like other games. Given previous release dates, Bethesda took four years to go from Oblivion to Skyrim and took seven years to go from Fallout 3 to Fallout 4. With Skyrim releasing in 2011, at this rate Elder Scrolls IV probably still has a year or two to go.

Bethesda still has plenty to talk about outside of The Elder Scrolls. With games like Prey, Quake Champions and ventures into VR, there’s definitely enough material to fill up an hour or two of presentations. Then again, the video game industry has been known to shock and surprise us all from time to time.

So what do you think? Are you excited that Bethesda is probably hosting their own E3 press conference again? What do you think will get announced? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below.
