A new trailer for Dauntless is out this week, featuring never-before-seen creature from the game’s growing bestiary and a sneak peek at the central hub city where players will accept new quests and buy better gear. There isn’t much new information about the game, but those getting anxious to see Dauntless make its way to PC would probably prefer a short trailer to nothing new at all.

It’s been a few months since our last update on Dauntless , the Monster Hunter -like cooperative action RPG being developed at Phoenix Labs. Back in January, iDigitalTimes reporter Steven Asarch got his first chance to hunt the Aether-mutated animals that scour the Shattered Isles and came away impressed to say the least. After three attempts at defeating the Shrike – a creature best described as part owl and part bear – Steven said Dauntless “felt full and lush, the combat was engaging and the graphics didn’t disappoint.” And now we’re getting our first look at a new, albeit similar looking, monstrosity that players will be asked to defeat.

The studio was quick to acknowledge visual similarities between the Shrike and Skraev, a pair of quadrupedal Behemoths with massive, feather-covered bodies and distinctly owl-shaped heads. But Phoenix Labs says players can expect very different challenges from each creature. Given the Skraev’s colder natural habitat, it’s probably safe to assume that cold/frost/ice damage will factor into the equation. But we’ll have to wait a bit longer to learn any significant information about the creature. For now, here’s how the studio describes the game’s latest Behemoth:

Skraev thrives in colder climates and wields deadly frost attacks. While he may bear a resemblance to the previously-announced Behemoth Shrike, Skraev is a completely different encounter, boasting new attacks and challenges for Slayers.

The new trailer also gives the community an early look at some of the people and places we’ll visit when Dauntless finally heads to PC. There are undoubtedly still secrets left to discover in the Shattered Isles, along with new behemoths to hunt, but it’s nice to get some idea of how players will be rewarded for their efforts. Just like in Monster Hunter , players will be able to take their loot back to town and have it crafted into powerful armor or weaponry. The latest Dauntless trailer also features a new class of weapons, Chain Blades, that blend short range combinations with longer pokes for a style that can deliver tons of damage while keeping the player at a safe distance.

For a closer look at Dauntless, take a few minutes to watch the new E3 2017 trailer embedded below. Then head down to the comments section and let us know what kinds of creatures you’re hoping to see when Dauntless debuts later this year.

Dauntless is in development for PC and expected to debut sometime in 2017.
