In the Season 7 premiere of Pretty Little Liars, Hanna has been kidnapped and her friends are in a frantic search for her whereabouts. The new “Uber A” (or “AD” as the mystery person signs their texts) has given the Liars and their friends 24 hours to save Hanna or else her fate may be a grim one. Several promos and preview clips suggest someone is dead. Is that person Hanna? We will find out in the upcoming episode, called “Tick-Tock Bitches,” which is best viewed on television or live online through Freeform Live.

Meanwhile, the Liars and their friends will learn of Mary Drake, the twin sister of Alison’s late mother, Jessica DiLaurentis. It remains uncertain exactly how her role will unfold, but we do know that she and Alison’s husband Elliott Rollins are in cahoots and that Mary wants revenge.

We also know that she is Charlotte DiLaurentis or Cece Drake’s real mother, but many of the details on why the DiLaurentises took Charlotte in as their own child have not been revealed.

During the Pretty Little Liars Season 6 finale, she and Elliott taunted Alison into believing she was seeing the ghost of her mother, as well as Darren Wilden. Wilden was the detective who investigated the murder when Alison was missing and presumed dead. Alison suffered a break from reality and her husband had her committed.

During the Season 7 opening, Alison is still committed and Elliot is pretending to be the dutiful husband. At this time the Liars do not know whether he is friend or foe.

The season, which may be the last of the series, promises several surprises, including the returns of many loved characters, couples reuniting, a wedding and the unmasking of the new “Uber A.”

Jenna Marshall, Jason DiLaurentis, Noel Kahn and Paige McCullers are among returning characters. PLL executive producer I. Marlene King has called Season 7 the “most romantic” season of the series. Several couple resolutions are expected, including Aria and Ezra, Caleb, Hanna, Spencer and Toby and Emily and Alison. Fans should also expect many deaths and the upcoming wedding will be between two original characters, according to The Hollywood Reporter .

The rest of the story unfolds Tuesday when Pretty Little Liars Season 7 Episode 1 airs at 8 p.m. EDT on Freeform.
