When Webber tries to argue this decision, Meredith pulls rank on him, stating that she is the chief general surgeon at Grey Sloan Memorial. Webber has transitioned into several positions since be stepped down as chief. Most recently, he has been head of the resident program; however, he may soon be pushed out of that position as Chief Bailey intends to hire someone new and younger to revamp the resident program.

At this time, Webber is unaware of these changes and willing to work with the new resident coordinator, Dr. Eliza Minnick. However, this Minnick has told Chief Bailey that she works alone. The hospital has been on edge ever since Minnick arrived with several doctor fearing for their jobs.
