Ever since the tracking bug in Pokémon Go popped up, players have found other ways to find some of their favorite Pokémon with the site Pokevision being the most popular.

Pokevision used Niantic’s API to locate which Pokémon appeared in a given location, but with the latest big update to Pokémon Go , it seems that Pokevision and other tracking sites have been shut down.

Here’s Pokevision’s statement on its Twitter account:

In a recent interview with Forbes , Niantic CEO John Hanke was asked about these tracking sites and their methods.

“Yeah, I don’t really like that. Not a fan,” Hanke said. “We have priorities right now but they might find in the future that those things may not work. People are only hurting themselves because it takes some fun out of the game. People are hacking around trying to take data out of our system and that’s against our terms of service.”

Forbes even caught up with Pokévision cofounder Yangcheng Liu and asked whether the site was down indefinitely, which he simply responded “it possibly could be.”

PokeHound.com, another Pokémon Go tracking site, seemingly have shut down their sites and Twitter accounts. A supposed screenshot of a cease and desist email sent from Niantic was posted before it was closed.

With the latest Pokémon Go update taking away the tracking feature completely, and tracking site like Pokevision being taken down, it seems it will be that much harder to find some of the rarer Pokémon.

So what do you think of the latest Pokémon Go update and tracking sites being shut down? Sound off in the comments section below.
