Japan is always a treasure trove of 3DS themes and the release of Pokémon Sun and Moon is no different. If you want to kit out your 3DS with a Pokémon Sun and Moon background, you’ll want to check out this beautiful 3DS theme featuring Pokémon Sun and Moon’s legendary Pokémon, Solgaleo and Lunala:

There’s also a “Tropical” theme featuring a few of the cute and fluffy Alolan Pokémon which you can check out below:

Both of these are available in Japan at a pittance price of 200 JPY (roughly $1.81 USD).

The “Tropical” and “Legendary” themes are available in the North American theme shop as well. Just follow these instructions:

  • Tap the icon on the top left of the home menu

  • Tap on “Change Theme”

  • Tap on “Theme Shop”

  • Tap on “New Themes”

The themes only cost $1.99 each, and as you can see from the video, they are chock-full of Alolan cuteness and drama.

This summer Japan also saw the announcement of a new New Nintendo 3DS XL featuring Solgaleo and Lunala:

The Pokémon Sun and Moon system also came with two matching themes that were bundled together with the system, allowing the player to choose between Solgaleo and Lunala:

North America did get access to the Pokemon Sun and Moon New Nintendo 3DS XL months later on Oct. 28, though there’s no indication that the Japanese 3DS themes were bundled along with them.
